James Free is committed to helping our neighbors in need. Our community has supported us for nearly 80 years, and it’s our privilege to pay it forward. We’ve found some hidden gems in our area that provide vital services, and we're proud to support them and shine a light on their cause.

James Free Jewelers' Watch Battery Charity Program

At James Free Jewelers, there’s never a charge for a simple watch battery replacement. Instead, we kindly ask for a donation of any amount, of which 100% of the funds collected go to benefit our partnering charity. Our current watch battery charity is The Foodbank. The Foodbank

Dayton Charity: The Foodbank

The Foodbank, Inc., often called The Dayton Foodbank, was founded in 1976. For 45 years, The Foodbank’s mission has been to alleviate hunger through a network of 98 partners by acquiring and distributing food across Montgomery, Greene, and Preble counties of Ohio. Approximately 1 in 6 adults and 1 in 5 children living in the Miami Valley are food insecure, meaning they do not have consistent access to the nutritious foods necessary for a healthy and happy life. Last year, The Foodbank distributed 17.2 million pounds of food, which equates to over 14 million meals, to our food insecure neighbors including families, children, seniors, and veterans. On average, The Foodbank distributes almost 40,000 meals each day.

Save The Animals Foundation

Cincinnati Charity: Save The Animals Foundation

Funded entirely by donations and operated by volunteers, our no-kill shelter currently homes over 300 dogs and cats, many of whom have been abused, abandoned or literally tossed away. Teams of volunteers work with the animals two shifts a day, 365 days a year, providing them with a safe and caring environment until we can place them in permanent, loving homes. Over the years we have matched thousands of lucky animals with equally lucky families.

Pink Ribbon Girls with Jewelry

Pink Ribbon Girls

When a woman is battling breast or gynecological cancer, everyday tasks can be overwhelming. Pink Ribbon Girls helps to ease that burden by providing healthy meals, rides to medical appointments and housecleaning services free of charge.

Their story is amazing. Pink Ribbon Girls was founded by women with breast cancer; some with young children. They knew first-hand how difficult it was to focus on recovery when so many basic needs we take for granted were not being met.

James Free Jewelers proudly supports this incredible organization through donations and awareness. Help us help them lighten the load for women engaged in this difficult battle.

Vets Link United Way

Military veterans may be eligible for many benefits and services. Those who served our country have unique and sometimes critical needs that can be addressed through these programs. But knowing what they are and where to find them can be overwhelming.

That’s why James Free Jewelers is working to help launch VetsLink 211 in our area. It’s a one-stop, free referral service for vets and their families that can provide immediate answers. They’ll never have to leave a message or wait for a reply, because VetsLink 211 has people standing by 24/7, every single day, just like our military.

VetsLink 211 is already available in other parts of the country and has helped our heroes and their families in tremendous ways. Ohio is home to one of the nation’s largest veteran populations, so it’s vital that we help the United Way launch this service here in our hometown.
